The Community

Imperial is located 210 miles southeast of Los Angeles, 122 miles east of San Diego, 250 miles southwest of Phoenix, AZ and 20 miles north of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

        2009 SUMMER HOURS: The District will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, from June 15 - July 31, 2009, in an effort to reduce power costs.

The School District

The Imperial Unified School District is one of the oldest districts in the Imperial Valley. It formed in 1902 and produced its first graduating class in 1906. The district includes three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one continuation high school which serve over 3,602 students in a 554 square mile area. Approximately 11,852 residents live within the city of Imperial.
